By the time we recognize this moment, this moment will be gone.

Happy Birthday Liam and Amaria

This is my favorite picture of the babies. It is from my phone so I know the quality is bad but I love it. One on a pink blanket and one on a blue both sleeping so sweet.
Well with all the chaos of the holidays I decided to take my time and blog about my two sweet grandbabies birthdays, not on their birthdays but close. Liam and Am are having their big number two birthdays, Liam on December 26th and Am on January 9th. I can hardly believe that it has been two years already since my girls were sitting around talking about their babe's and how they couldn't wait to get them out!!! It was fun to have them prego together, they helped each other through it. The babies, as we have called them from day one, are growing and learning all kinds of new things and naughty tricks. They each have their own little personality and feel slightly territorial about certain things and people around grandma's house. Am is a grandma's girl and Liam is a grandpa's boy for sure. They are both perfect and we have had so much fun with them. I have to give kudos to their parents for the great job they have done with the kids and thank them for blessing us with these sweeties. We love you Ammie and Liam!!!!! Happy 2nd birthday

Happy Birthday Nicolas and Hillary

Well, today is a special day in our family. Two of my babies were born on this day, one in 1981 and one in 1992. I have heard of alot of people who have kids born on their birthdays but rarely do people have two kids born on the same day that are not twins. Hillary was not to happy that Nicolas came into this world and messed up her birthday. It was a little sad for her to have me in the hospital on her special day. But she has been a trooper since then and shared that day with her brother with a smile. It has been a challenge at times, like getting birthday cakes that are decorated on each side according to what they wanted, keeping it special for both of them and buying birthday gifts at the same time I am buying Christmas. Happy Birthday to my sweeties! I love you both.

Here are a few things about both of them, some maybe more well known than others.

Hillary always wore pink when she was little.
Nicolas was nicknamed teddy cause he would sneak in and sleep with me and cuddle like a teddy bear.
Hillary was a total girly girl and loved jewelry and dolls.
Nicolas was a Power Ranger fan and loved to sing the theme song.
Hillary went on her first long stay away from home without us when she was in 4th grade to California and they had a earthquake.
Nicolas used to cry everytime it was Kelsey's birthday and she opened presents.(oh my)
Hillary was the only sister on the block who got to play with the big boys.
Nicolas loved to play fluffies family with Kelsey. (long story)
Hillary has traveled all over the United States and has been to Europe twice.
Nicolas has also been named mister mcFriendly because of his outgoing and friendly personality.
Hillary loves candy especially chocolate and can smell it a mile away.
Nicolas has made some amazing things out of legos and has quite a collection of them.
Hillary is a true animal lover and if we would let her would adopt every animal out there.
Nicolas is a sweet brother, uncle and son. He always has a hug for any of us.
Hillary loves music and likes to play the piano when she can.
Nicolas loves music also and claims that his ipod is his greatest possession.
Hillary is a cute mommy and a caring sister and daughter. She would do anything for any of us and is a good listener.
Nicolas is the number one hot chocolate maker. No one does it better than him.
Hillary loves to eat sushi which has always amazed me. (Eww)
Nicolas is actually a pretty good cook and likes to make up his own dishes.
Hillary is deathly and I mean deathly afraid of spiders.
Nicolas is the picky eater of the family.
Hillary loves to fish and is not afraid to clean her catch.
Niclolas was scared of Lindsey for a really long time and always ran when she came over because she kissed him. Now he loves her to death.
Hillary hates milk and whipped cream.
Nicolas loves Biology and gets A's in that class. YAH
Hillary hates watching sports on TV except for maybe the Jazz. She makes Josh watch with the sound off.
Nicolas was scared of cows when he was little and would never go out in pasture with the other kids.
Nicolas is a born leader and takes every assignment seriously. He knows the value of doing his calling the best that he can and does it.
Hillary has one desire right now and that is to have a house of her own. (Go for it Hill)
Nicolas has always been happy. He has worn a smile since he was little and was never afraid of people.
Hillary and Nicolas both love Disneyland more than anywhere and they are both very tender hearted and sensitive.

I am so grateful for both of them and so proud to be their mother. Happy Birthday kids! Love Ya

Tis the Season!

Here it is again, the season I love most and it is flying by so fast. I am getting excited for the big day and looking over all the things that I need to do and COOK for, yes, I am feeling a little bogged down. This past week has been an interesting week for our family. Saying good bye to Al boy was harder than we all thought and we are all wanting to help Kelsey get through it. It is funny how attached you can get to other peoples kids. I seem to have a hard time with that. We have spent alot of time with Alan here in our home. We have included him in every part of our family, holidays, dinners, Family home evening, vacations and just everyday life. We even made sure that our tree was put up in time for him so that, (at his request) he could sit and look at the tree and have hot chocolate with Kelsey, Hill and Nic. Life just keeps moving forward. Before we know it Nic will be leaving and we will all be sad again. Anyway, Christmas preparations are moving forward at the Hall's and on Friday I am going to officially finish all my shopping and just sit back and enjoy!!! Kelsey will be home on Thursday so we are planning a shopping morning to prepare some packages for some of her boys, Trev, Spencer, Brandyn and Al. It will be fun to prepare them and send them off and it is good therapy for her. I can't wait for her to be back home with us again. I miss her so much when she is at school.
Hope everyone is as happy to have Christmas here as much as I am. If not, turn on the tree, light a yummy candle, turn on the Christmas music and drink it in! It will make you smile for sure. Merry Christmas!

Bye Bye Al Boy

Well today is the last day that Alan will be here so I just wanted to make a quick post and let him know how proud we are of him and how much our family has grown to love him. He will definately leave a empty spot at our house, but we are so excited to watch him begin this amazing journey. He is a great young man and will be a perfect missionary. The people of Argentina will be so blessed to have him there and be able to see that great smile that always makes me want to smile too! All of our love and best wishes to you Alan, go get em!

Happy Birthday Kelsey!

Today is Kelsey's 19th Birthday. I remember that day so well and I kept worrying about Jake and Hillary and how they would react. I wondered what would happen to this little twosome once the new intruder arrived. Needless to say they both melted once she came home and they began their new job of parenting at the young age of 7 and 10. It has been an amazing experience for me to have my two sets of kids. I have taken alot of flack about it but I would choose it again in a heartbeat. There have been relationships that I am not sure could have been built any other way. It is so fun to watch the years shrink and all of them becoming one age in a sense. When I see Hillary and Nicolas dancing in the family room and laughing their heads off and Jake or Nicolas giving Kels a big hug after she has been away for a few weeks at school, I know that somewhere I have done a few things right. How grateful I am for the promptings of the spirit who reminded us that we were not in charge (again) and allowing us the wonderful experience of having Kelsey in our family. I love you Kelsey, Happy Birthday! Here are 19 things about the birthday girl.

1- Talented: Kelsey would not admit it in a million years but she is talented. She has a pretty voice and she would love to be able to sing in public. She has an amazing ability to memorize random stuff (except school work) and can recite all kinds of movie lines in character. Just ask her sometime!

2- Loves her family: Kelsey loves her family more than anything. She has a great admiration for all of them for their different strengths and is totally devoted to her siblings. She would do anything for them.

3- Obedient: Oh man, how many mom's can use that word to describe their teenager? She has never crossed the line with me and she has had many extra perks because of it. She never argued when I told her when to come home, just said ok and did it. It ended up helping her in the end privilege wise.

4- Spiritual: Kelsey has the most amazing testimony and always has. I swear if a person can be born with one, she was. Is that possible? She stays true to her Heavenly Father and to herself and makes others want to be better just by being around her.

5- Good Friend: If you have Kelsey as a friend she always will be. She is loyal to those whom she has chosen to be her good friend and works hard to keep them going the right direction. She never would want to see them fail. I still remember poor Spencer Carlson getting quized all the time about if he passed the sacrament at church or making him recite the priesthood theme. He is a better person for having her as a friend and she helped reach his goal of a mission. She prefers guy friends to girls and has a group of guys that she calls her boys. All are on missions and one is leaving soon! How cool is that.

6- Hard Worker: All through High School Kelsey had two jobs. One summer she would go to work and get home at 12:30 a.m. and get up and be to work at her other job by 5:00 a.m. She juggled two jobs, yearbook editor and school, oh and don't forget that all important social life. There were alot of times that she missed out on things because she had to work, but she had a goal to earn money and go to Utah State and she did it!

7- Ice Cream Queen: Anyone that knows Kelsey knows that ice cream runs through her veins. I believe it came from my Grandpa who was a huge ice cream lover for sure. She loves it so much that she went to work at Coldstone and looked forward to her free ice cream at the end of her shift. Even when she was not at work, she could still be found stopping by for her fix. She knows her ice cream!

8- Fun to be around: There is something about Kelsey that makes you want to be around her. She is fun and witty and loves to have a good time with her friends and family. She makes you want to laugh and leaves a empty spot when she is gone:(

9- Eater of much yummy foods: Ok, so Kelsey can out eat just about any guy on any occasion. Not sure where she puts it and it never show up on her, but she can wolf down a meal! We joked with her a little when she started dating about ordering specialty drinks and not eating more than her date. She does hold the record in our ward for the most scones eaten at one time, 17 I think, and she de-throned a guy. It was awesome! Her dad was there and he said it was his proudest moment. They still talk about in total awe.

10- Pretty: Kelsey is so pretty and those big brown eyes and smile of hers are amazing. She would argue with this one for sure but we all know the truth!

11- Goal Oriented: Kelsey set herself a goal to go to Utah State this last fall. She worked hard as I already mentioned and made it a reality. Now she is there and sometimes I think she gets a little bit lonely and bored, but a goal is a goal and a commitment is a commitment and she is hanging tough. One of my favorite goals of Kelsey was to make it to 16 without being kissed. I kidded her a little, but she made it. Way to go Kels!

12- Wise: Kelsey is 19 going on 30 in the wise department. She has the unique quality of seeing the big picture instead of just the moment. It has served her well especially in her relationships with her guys, (guys only live in the moment) and she has been able to reap the benefits of that. I have told Alan on a few occasions that those things that make him crazy about her are the things that he loves about her. She has great wisdom to know where she wants to end up and won't comprimise that.

13- Leader: I have watched Kelsey blossom as a great leader in school and church. She took on the tasks for three years of leading her peers in Yearbook with finishing up her last year as the editor. It was alot of pressure and responsibility and more than once she picked up the slack for those who didn't quite finish their spreads. At church she took on the responsibility of leading her classes and had alot of extra things put on her plate to do. She made sure it was done and her leaders at church and at school loved her!

14 - Worrier: This started when she was little and it has never quit. I am amazed that she does not have a ulcer or something. She used to be more the "what if" worrier, what if this happens, what if that happens, now it is more worrying about everything even if she can't control it. (She still does the what if worrying too!)

15 - Caring: Kelsey cares about others, especially their feelings. She never wants anyone to feel sad and works hard to cheer people up. Just recently Nic had a particularly bad day at work and then in the same day broke his arm. She worked so hard that day to make sure that he was cheered up and waited up until 3:30 in the morning to give him a hug. She is a nurturer and sensitve to others feelings.

16 - Giving: If Kelsey had something you wanted and you let her know it she would hand it over no questions asked. I think it comes from her Nic mothering days. I think she would make a great wealthy person because she would make it her job to help others have what they need. She does not ask for things and whatever you get her is just fine, no complaints.

17 - Respectful: Kelsey has the ability to win the hearts of her friends parents hands down. If they could adopt her they would. I think that this hopefully stems from being taught that you show respect to everyone, especially the adults you come in contact with. When she is in their homes she is respectful of their things and especially of them. She has always followed the rules I have set for her without complaint.

18 - I asked Alan for one word to describe Kelsey and this was his answer. "I can't choose just one, how about gorgeous:)" Good Answer Al!

19- On this last one I decided to not be specific and list a few random things about her. She is afraid of spiders and the dark, she loves to shop for earings and she would eat out non stop if she could. She likes to read when she can if she has something really good to read, but she reads her scriptures faithfully. Kelsey is a home body and loves it when she gets to come home from school. She loves music and likes to sing at the top of her lungs in the bathroom. Sleeping is her favorite past time and she does it so well. She wants to be a mom when she grows up. Kelsey likes to write poetry and express her feelings through it. She misses all her friends and hanging out at the Bushman's with all of them, holding her own against them in some kind of a game or activity. She writes all those missionary boys as often as she can. She always sends a text to all the priesthood holder friends she has after the priesthood session of conference and has them tell her about their favorite talk. They all expect it. (Helps keep them paying attention) She is not the least interested in cleaning and likes her clothes on the floor so she can find them. (Go figure) She likes to roast Starburst candy over a fire for heavens sakes! She loves hot chocolate and she is a pretty good candy eater. Kelsey likes green olives and lemons in her Christmas stocking.

There you have it, a few not so well know facts about my girl. She is an amazing young women and a great daughter, sister and friend. WE love you Kelsey! Happy Birthday

Sunday with Kelsey and her tag!

Yesterday Nicolas and I made the journey to Logan to go to church with Kelsey. They do a parents day at church and you get to go and have Sacrament meeting with your student and they feed you lunch. It was my first time up there since she moved there and also my first time at her apartment. It was so fun to spend some time with her and Nicolas. I love watching them together. I know how much they truly love each other and they miss each other too! They have been great buds from the very beginning and Kelsey has been a little mother hen with Nicolas. (Still is) Only one bad part of the day and that was leaving her there and coming home without her. My heart wanted to say, oh just come home and we will pack you up but I know she is where she wants to be and needs to be and I am proud of her for it. Thanks Kelsey for having us up to school! It was great!

Happy 19th Birthday Alan!

Al boy is having his 19th birthday so I thought it only fitting that I should post a few things about Alan on his special day! Here are 19 things about Alan.

1 - Loves Family -
Alan loves his family and appreciates all that they do for him. He would do anything for them and misses his brother terribly. He has a great admiration for each one of his family members, each for the different qualities they have and looks up to them.

2 - Generous - Alan would give anyone, anything, anytime.

3 - Obedient - Alan tries hard to follow the rules set by his parents even when he would rather not. This quality will be a great asset to him as a missionary. Obedience is key!

4 - Playful - Alan is always willing to play games and loves to play the really hard ones that make you think.

5 - Smile - Alan has a smile that covers his whole face. I have said before that his smile makes you want to smile too.

6 - Testimony - I love that way Alan is willing to share his testimony with anyone, never being afraid of what they might think. That will keep it strong and make him a great Missionary.

7 - Smart - Alan is very smart and much to the dismay of Kelsey does not have to work nearly as hard at studying for exams. He just seems to retain everything!

8 - Talented - Alan is a great singer and plays the Piano. He is also good at drawing which he really likes to do alot!

10 - Loyal - If you have Alan for a friend you know that you can always count on him. There are tons of people that think they are his best bud because of the way he treats them.

11 - Easy to please - Never have to worry about what I put on the table when Al is over. He never complains and he is a good sport about eating my mediocre cooking. Thanks Al!

12 - Good listener - Alan and I have had ALOT of talks about all kinds of things. He has always sat and listened to my point of view and even if it might have been going out the other ear, I never knew it!

13 - Fun to be around - Alan has this great spirit around him that makes others want to be around him. He has a fun personality and makes others feel valued.

14 - Goal Oriented - While we were on the cruise Al struck up a conversation with a guy named Mike in the hot tub. After probably an hour and a half they parted ways, but I chated with him for a minute. He said to me, those are two great kids, did you do that? (meaning did you teach them to be that way) He thought they were both my kids I guess. I said no that they were born like that and that I couldn't take credit for Alan! Among the many nice compliments he gave me about the kids he commented on what a goal oriented person Alan was and how amazing it was to see a young man that age that knows exactly where he was going. I think so too!

15 - Faithful - I have watched these past few years as Alan has remained a faithful friend, family member and most of all a faithful son of his Heavenly Father. I have never heard him complain about meetings he attends (except maybe the 7:00 am ones) or any assignment he has been given. He will be great missionary!

16 - Respectful - This quality has a special importance to me as Kelsey's mom. Alan has shown Kelsey nothing but the utmost respect at all times. He treats her how I would want her to be and values her as a special young women. I appreciate that so much. I have never had to worry about her one time in fact just the opposite. I always feel better when she is hanging out with Al.

17 - Careful with money - This is a quality that has amazed me sometimes with Alan. He is careful with how he spends his or his parents money. He is happy with just taking care of his needs and not his wants. Most kids have a great time spending mom and dad's money and rarely learn the value of it until they have to start earning it. Even though he has not earned a ton of money so far in his short 19 years he seems to value that others have had to work hard for the money they are handing him.

18 - Adorable - I asked Kelsey for one more word that discribes Alan and this is one she chose! Good answer Kelsey!

19 - Missionary - It seems like we have talked about this time for quite a while. Alan and I have had alot of chats that have come around to this topic. I told him the other day that there is someone that only he can touch and bring the blessings of the gospel to. I know he will be a great missionary and serve his Heavenly Father well. When Kelsey's brother went to the temple before his mission we met with the temple president. It was so cool. He told him that his mission was not to go out and baptize or change the world, but to prepare him to be a husband, father, elders quorum president and so on. Missions change peoples lives and teach us to rely on the spirit. I am looking forward to watching Alan go on his mission. Thanks to your parents for the great young man they have raised and for allowing us to be part of your life also. We have enjoyed it! Love from our family!

Ever had one of those weeks where you just wish you could push a cool little button and rewind it and try it again? Nicolas and I have had that kind of a week for sure. His started with a fiasco at work and mine started with his biology quiz. I won't go into detail about his rewind moment, I will leave that to him. I on the other hand handled an excited Nic telling me about doing good on a Biology quiz all wrong, when he told me he only missed a few, I asked him why he missed any. Duh! I said this because I had studied him the night before and he knew all the answers so I was surprised that he missed any, but the presentation of my response was all wrong and I took the wind right out of his sails. I felt horrible and apologized but I still don't think either one of us felt good after that. Lessons to my favorite mom's that read my blog, don't do that. Always praise first then ask questions later, carefully. Next rewind. Last night at 11:45 Nicolas came in and told me he thought he broke his arm. The very words that mom's never want to hear any time of the day or night. Off to the emergency room we go. Broken indeed, both bones. After many x rays and other kicks and giggles we finally returned home at 3:00a.m. Blah. I just kept thinking if they would have just come in five minutes earlier. If only we could hit that rewind button and start parts of our lives over. Fix the stupid things we say to other people, the mistakes we make at work, the feelings we hurt and the things we do that we know better. That would be way to easy right? Sorry Nicolas for this crappy week and any part I had in making it that way for you. I love you!

Another tag from Hillary

Kevin: He is a hard worker and is pretty much able to fix anything. He cares about others and takes his calling in the Bishopric very seriously. I have seen him grow and change in so many ways and I am proud of the person He has become. He honors his priesthood and works hard to do the things that will keep the spirit with him. I know he is so so so proud of his kids even though he probably doesn't verbalize it much, but he is. They know that he will give them 110% if they ever need him. He is a great husband and works hard to make sure that we have all that we need. I appreciate and love him for putting up with me for all these years. Thanks!

Jake: The most amazing dad I and husband I have ever seen. He always worries about me and calls me to make sure that I am ok if he knows I am sad about something. This melts my heart. I love it when he gives me a hug.
He is a great friend and people are drawn to him. He is not a gossiper and if you tell him something he will keep it in the vault! He is a gifted artist, even though he disagrees. I am so proud of him!

Lindsey: She couldn't have fit into our family any better if she was my own child. She is talented and creative and my interior decorator! She loves my sweet son and I love her for that. They have a relationship that is unique.
She is an amazing mom and adores her kids. She is very sensitive about everything and worries way to much about birds. (ha)

Hillary: My sweet girl. I am so proud of the way she has stepped into the mother role. She works so hard to be the best mom she can. I know I can talk to her about anything (and do) and she always listens to me. She is sensitive and cares about other people especially her family. She and I think alike about so many things. She loves so many things that I do. She was always my elf on Christmas Eve up until last year. We had alot of good visits at night under the tree. Hope she will take those traditions and share them with her daughter/s. Then she will know the joy it gave me! Like me, she loves music and is a teenager at heart. She will make a great teen-ager mom!

Josh: Probably one of the most driven and goal oriented people I know. He is a little competitive, ok alot. He strives to do his best at whatever he does. It is not good enough to do something just to get by. He is patient and so kind to my Hillary and I appreciate that I know she is loved and respected. I admire that he takes notes during conference and listens to it on his I pod. SO AWESOME!

Kelsey: My other sweet girl! Not a day goes by that this girl does not amaze me. I learn from her and she sets such a great example to me. She sees the big picture which is very rare at 18 and already knows where she wants to go. She loves her family and spending time with her siblings. She is a great friend and puts others feelings first. I am so proud of her and the values that she has set for herself. Never been a worry to me and I always have trusted her 100%. How lucky for me!!! She is talented and funny and makes us laugh. She has allowed me to be part of her life even through these teen age years when your mom suddenly gets the plague. Never has she seemed embarrassed to have me around her friends. Man, that has been fun for me!!!!

Nicolas: What a great young man. He works so hard to do the right things and he sets a great example to me. He has chosen to surround himself with great friends and is a great friend in return. He is so loving and kind to me and to his sisters. He is always good for a hug and a kiss and is never embarrassed about where or when. He is creative and fun to be around. We are about to enter the dating zone again here at our house. and I am looking forward to all the fun to be had! I am so proud of the young man he has become. He has always had a smile on his face and makes me smile everyday.

Grandkids: What fun this group of angels has been for me. Each individual with their own little personalities. I love seeing them and watching them grow and learn. My favorite times are when the whole family is here together and being able to watch Jake and Hill care for each others kids and the younger two play with them. I am sure at those times that this is what heaven is like for sure. They say that grandchildren are a reward for putting up with their parents. I say they are a bonus! I never put up with my own kids, I adore them!

Mom: My mom wants to take care of everyone and she gives it her best shot for sure. She calls me everyday just to see if I am ok. Something that I probably take for granted but someday will miss terribly. She has a soft spot in her heart for my kids and they for her also. She has been another mom to them and always felt safe with her. I think they still look to her for that sometimes. She is a great mom and I appreciate her more than I can say.

Our Cruise to Cabo?

Kelsey and Alan trying Escargo. Yuck!
My great kids!
Sunday in the hot tub. Alan was doing his missionary work there.

Nic and our waiter. They ended up best buds before we left and when we would see him he would always ask,"Where's my boy." He was great!

Playing cards in the Cole Porter Lounge where the snooty people hung out.
In Encenada Mexico. Nic titled this shot, "Me and my girls".
First day on the cruise. Yes, the water really is that blue! So beautiful!

The fam just getting off the ship in Mexico. Nic being his fun self.

Well, here we are back after a great time on board the Fun Ship Elation. The cruise was so much fun and we had a ton of laughs. It was so fun to hang out with the kids and enjoy them. They are alot of fun! We set sail on Saturday afternoon about 4:00 p.m. and headed to Cabo. Took a while to get used to the motion of the ship. So funny to watch everyone swaying as they walked around. Sunday was a relaxing day for us. Let the kids sleep and chill as much as they wanted. Then Monday morning we hit the tip of the Baja and the captain comes on the speaker and says we are turning around. WHAT? Major tropical storm with 12 ft swells and to dangerous so we head North. Major bummer. It turned into the joke on the ship after that. So we spent Monday and Tuesday at sea. Three and a half days at sea is a bit much but we made the best of it. Wednesday to Ensenada Mexico and off to our Kayaking adventure. That is a whole other story. We can say the we did it anyway. Then Thursday morning we were in port in San Diego. The kids loved the food and dinner everynight was so much fun. If am sure that was Nic's favorite part of the trip. Kelsey I hope you had a great Senior trip, one that you will never forget. I know I will remember it for a long time!!!! Let's do it again sometime for sure but we will stay away during hurricane season next time!

Bon Voyage Here I Go!

Saturday morning we are heading out on our family cruise! I am looking forward to spending time with the kids and eating the yummy foods. I am nervous about the trip. I hate the water so I am wondering what in the heck I am doing! Wish me luck!!!

Mission Call for Alan

The long awaited mission call came for our Al boy. It was exciting for everyone and he was so happy to be going out of the country and learning a language. It seems like we have talked about his call for so long and here it is, finally here. It has been fun to be part of his life these past couple of years. I sometimes forget that he has a family of his own. I have gotten to be his mom at times, his friend and his therapist many times. We have had so many good talks and I have trusted him with my precious daughter. He has made my life easier in getting Kelsey through high school, I never had to worry about her safety for one minute. If it was snowing he would come get her for school or go get her from work. I always knew she was safe and that he would make sure nothing happened to her. I really appreciated that as a mom. Here is my Alan list:

Alan can and will sleep anywhere anytime.
He is not a fan of ice cream.
He wants to be taller.
He is really very strong for his little body.
He cares about others feelings and tries to make others happy even at his own expense.
He is very generous and has promised me a new car, a cruise and another house. (I will take him up on the first two, but I love my house)
He has a smile that can only make you want to smile back.
He can hold his own around our house in the crudeness category.
He loves kids.
He hates it when we leave the cupboard doors open.
One of the sweetest things I have seen him do for Kelsey is last homecoming she didn't have a date and he did. After he took his date home for the night he came over in his suit and took her outside and turned up the car radio and they had their own dance in driveway.
He is talented and very smart.
He loves my daughter. (Wise boy)

Congratulations Alan, we love you!

Part of the Plan

I have been thinking lately about the plan of motherhood and wondering why Heavenly Father puts us through 9 months of pregnancy, labor and allows years to become so attached to our children then he allows them to grow up and leave us behind. I remember all the time I spent pondering getting pregnant with Kelsey. I asked everyone I knew what they thought and I spent alot of time trying to talk myself out of it. Enter the plan. Looking back now I see what my part in the plan was. To bring this child into the world, love her, teach her and cherish every day then let her go. I hate the plan. As each one of my children have left home, I have thought this is the hardest thing I have ever done, to let go. I said it as I pulled away from the MTC on my sons 19th birthday, as I watched Hillary and Josh pull out of the driveway headed to California just hours after her wedding, and now as I have sent my girl away to school. I almost wish I didn't know the plan so well, then I would think that she will be back and things will be the same, but they won't. Tough assignment this motherhood thing.
We have had a full and busy couple of weeks. Just check out my kids Blog's for all the details. The blessings just keep coming and the kids just keep making me smile. It all part of the plan.

One more thing off my list!

Hill and I attended a concert for one of my favorite artists, James Taylor on Monday. Last time he was here I promised myself that next time he came I would go. So we snagged some sweet tickets and off we went. I have attended a few awesome concerts in my day, and this one will rank way up there. It was a perfect night all the way around. One more thing to check off my list to do before I get to old! Thanks Hill for going with me. Maybe we can go next time he comes again!

It's been a while!

Sad to say that the things in my daily life do not seem "Blog" worthy. I am a boring person I guess. Since my last post I bought the new car. Blah. Not to happy about one more financial stress in my life. I guess it was time since I haven't bought a new car for (count em) eight years. Nic was gone to EFY for a week and the following week Kelsey went to yearbook camp for a week. It has been wierd to have the kids gone even if it was only one at a time. I miss them so much when they are gone. Now we are moving onward and upward getting Kelsey ready to go to school. Wow for anyone that reads this, start saving now for college. It is so expensive and really hard to come up with the funds. Last Monday I took Nicolas to get his learners permit. He was so excited to get it but very nervous to drive. It still amazes me that he is almost 16. Loving those teenagers. Another motherly wisdom note for today. Teenagers are the most age fun of all, so have fun with them and keep them close to you. Let them talk and most of all listen to them. They need your attention just as much as they did when they were small. Last note, today our Alan was made an elder. So cool, he is taking those steps getting ready to leave on a mission. Next the temple and then setting apart as a missionary. We love that kid!!! Congratulations Al boy

Car Shopping & EFY

Ok, so today dad and I went looking for cars mostly just for fun. Oh blah. I can't even believe that you can buy a simple car and end up with a 300 - 500 dollar payment. What is up with that!!! Needless to say I am opposed highly to paying that much every month and dad is ready to shell it out just so he doesn't have to repair another beater car. I think that I will continue to drive my scooter (Speedy) and hope that I don't die doing it. Also, my "little" Nicolas left for EFY today so excited he could hardly contain himself. Every year I think I can't afford to send the kids to EFY and then every year when they get back I realize once again that I can't afford not to. Last year when he came home he had gone through this amazing transformation. He brought home this sweet spirit and it is time for another booster shot full of it again. He loved the experience and it was great for him. How lucky the kids are that they have these awesome opportunities available to them. Anyone who might read this that is a parent make sure that you take advantage of this program. It is priceless!!! Have fun this week my little teddy!!!

Here I Go!!!

Well, I have found myself addicted to Blogs so here I go with one. I don't have alot to Blog about but I love the idea of having a way to keep a journal and make it be fun. I can't think of a better way to brag about my great kids and sweet grandkids.
So I took Kelsey up to Utah State for student orientation on Tuesday. They separated us and I spent the day in classes geared for the parents and she went to classes to prepare her to set a schedule. I was sitting there looking around at all these parents. There I sat with my backpack, cell phone, tenny runners and ipod thinking to myself, these people are all old. Now reality check for me, I am old too! Even so I think it is all about how you feel on the inside. Now don't get me wrong, you should act your age and I know I am getting up there. I plan on fighting with all I have to stay young on the inside where it counts. I credit my kids for helping me to work on this. They try to keep me up to speed on the latest gadgets and they have allowed me to have some fun with them along the way. They are the best kids ever!!!!
